L'elefante di Giotto
1986
Lithograph on torn rag paper, with collage of painted sheet iron, in brass frame box, 28 x 128 x 3 cm (11 x 50½ x 1 in). Edition: 60, signed and numbered on verso of print.
The shaped print L'elefante di Giotto is an imprint of an old work bench that the artist found in his print shop in Rome. The image of an elephant in a grotto, light and darkness, the title and the mounting in the brass frame box make this piece appear as a fragmentary relic of some legendary past.
