Allan D'Arcangelo

Allan D’Arcangelo (1930-1998), born in Buffalo, New York, lived and worked in New York City. A leading figure of American Pop Art, he is best known for his paintings and prints depicting highways, road signs, cars and other elements of the American landscape. Combining the visual language of popular culture with a precise, geometric aesthetic, D’Arcangelo transformed the road into a recurring subject through which he explored movement, modernity and the structures of contemporary American life.
