The two-part photographic work by Malerie Marder brings together two seemingly fleeting moments in which the human body enters into relation with its surroundings. A figure suspended in a hotel room and a blurred figure overlooking the expanse of Los Angeles create an intriguing tension between freedom and alienation. Precisely composed yet dreamlike, the images combine intimacy with cinematic distance, positioning the body between proximity, movement and dissolution.
