»For me, drawing is research into thinking rather than an investigation of perception. Drawing often only consists of a few small gestures on a sheet of paper, it is black powder on the surface and can evoke a special language for the viewer.« Since 1986, Mark Manders has been working on his "Self-Portrait as a Building", elements of which - drawings, objects, sculptures, rooms, and writing - he regularly ex-hibits in different contexts. The print illustrated here derives from that central body of work. Mark Manders´ works seem to be from another world, a world of the subconscious; they seem to be references to a strange, yet always arranged order.
